Early Childhood visual arts introduces our youngest learners (pre-k through first grade) to the wonderful world of the arts. 在这些成长的岁月里, children learn to express themselves creatively, 成为发散型思考者, 培养精细的运动技能. Curriculum highlights include clay, 绘画, color study, and self-portraits.

In second through fifth grade, creative expression is emphasized with many opportunities for children to explore, 实践, and share new ideas with various materials. Artistically inclined students also have the opportunity to select 课外俱乐部, which have included Clay Play Club, Comic Book Making, and Crafty Gems Club. 棋牌游戏平台夏季课程 also has art-based offerings, which often include Artrageous!, Eco Artists, Jewelry Jamboree, and more.

在中学部, students have the opportunity to explore a variety of artistic mediums such as woodworking in the Smith Fabrication Studio, 版画, 陶瓷, 画, 和绘画. Sixth grade students are also able to work with microcontrollers on specific projects. Visual arts classes help round out each student’s academic schedule while also teaching them useful life skills.

Middle and Upper Division students contribute work to an impressive end-of-year art exhibition called “概念.” 

Upper Division visual arts classes include computer animation, 陶瓷, 设计艺术, 平面设计, 摄影, woodworking in the Smith Fabrication Studio, 还有更多. Art students are encouraged to enter their projects into regional, 状态, 还有全国性的比赛, and they frequently win multiple awards in the Scholastic Art & 写作奖比赛. They also take part in a variety of events on campus, such as the annual 粉笔艺术 Show. Their art is frequently on display for the Berkeley community in the Straz Family Art Gallery. 高级艺术 俱乐部 include: Fashion Club, Fiber 艺术 Club, Origami Club, Sequential 艺术 Club, and more.

另外, students may learn the 技术 of film and video production and storytelling through our filmmaking class. The topics covered include stop-motion, screenwriting, narrative, and documentary film. Each winter, there is the opportunity to write for, direct, crew, or produce for our annual SHORTS! 电影节.

Middle and Upper Division students contribute work to a an impressive end-of-year art exhibition called “概念.” 

The Upper Division also offers a summer travel program to study Art and Photography for three weeks in Florence, 意大利. This program is open to all Upper Division students, who earn one 视觉艺术 credit and one 全球学者 elective credit for going on the trip.
